The Shots

Similar to tennis , backhands and forehands are played and theese on both sides of the horse
( right = offside , left side = nearside ). The most accurate shots possible forwards, backwards or diagonally can be made from both the nearside and the offside.

A ball hit under the horse’s neck is called a neck – shot, those hit behind and across the horse’s rump are called tailshots.
In order to maintain the central concept of the rules the mallet is always held in the player’s right hand – even for left handed players.
